Seven Day Itinerary - (AGES 16 - 18 ) ​

​Day One - Arrival
Meet the Nkonzo Wildlife team at George Airport (GRJ) for transport to accommodation. After settling in at the facility, all participants will undergo orientation and safety briefings. Said introduction will include an itinerary overview, safety guidance, do's and don'ts, and an introduction to our conservation work.

Day Two - Workshop and cultural experience
Morning workshop on rhino conservation.
Afternoon museum visit and a boat tour of Mossel Bay.

Day Three - Bushwalk and introduction to data collection
Spend the morning on a guided hike for introductions to wildlife tracking, botany, approach methods, bush survival, and birding. The walk is approximately 8km far and of medium difficulty.  After a packed lunch in the field, a short discussion on activity budgets, ethograms, and data collection will be presented.

Day Four - Wildlife Workshop and Beach Clean Up
A workshop on a predetermined topic, and participants will assist in a beach clean-up in the afternoon.

Day Five - Game Drive 
Participants will join a game drive safari to expose them to the ecotourism industry. Enjoy close encounters with white rhinoceros, lions, elephants, Cape buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, hippopotamus, black impala, golden wildebeest, Cape mountain zebra and more! Lunch will be in an open-air restaurant overlooking the African bush. 

Day Six - National Park Hike
Experience one of South Africa's national parks and the uniqueness of the Afro-montane forest on a guided hike to a natural waterfall. Known for its biodiversity and home as a birder's paradise, it's a side of South Africa not usually seen.

Day Seven - Departure

Requirements

All participants must be of reasonably good health, physically and mentally. Participants must be able to hike up and down hills and across this terrain whilst carrying their backpack that contains their drinking water, personal snacks, and additional layers (weather dependent).

We ask that all participants understand that our work is conducted on a free roaming reserves and that schedules may change based on animal locations, accessibility, weather, and other factors.
